Hi,

Does anybody have experience with ripping amember protected site (forum).
I'm trying with HTTrack but it's not possible.

Any help please...?

Downloading a password protected forum doesn't have to do with hacking? I'm currently a member of a paid forum which is closing down in a few weeks. Obviously I'd like to still be able to access the files in the future and afaik there's nothing illegal about this.

@lanbo: can you recommend any forum leeching bots? The problem with most is that they fail to save the cookie, so the offline version of the forum asks for a login on every page.

I'm surprised seemingly nobody ever attempted to rip a pw protected forum in the past

You can do this with HTTrack, here is an example using a site which requires authentication: http://httrack.kauler.com/help/CatchURL_tutorial

Yeah I've tried httrack + that tutorial before already but it doesn't work. There must be some evil htaccess redirect somewhere, because when I try to grab the cookie with the httrack proxy, the "grabbed URL" changes from "forumsite.com" to "opsc.godaddy.com" or something weird like that. Even if I manually change it back it doesn't download anything.

If this is the case just copy the cookie of the redirected site.

Alternatively just use Wget. Also post the forum URL so I can have a look at ti.

I dont think so buddy. On my 1000th post, i wrote about exploiting these kind of sites, sites from cb or where the product was digital media. Just search on the threads i opened if you want to know more

This thread is about archiving forum threads.
